Howdy all, Time for another blog post! In this episode, Nigel tries to reverse his lifetime failure record of plant stewardship and attempts to make something actually grow!
In not TV land, I really do suck at taking care of plants. Generally they manage to sprout and live for a few days, and then end up dying for one reason or another. Every so often I get the bug to try and not be such an utter flora failure and try again. Well, that so often is now!
Anyway, a while back I got a little tiny pot, a dirt pellet, and some Chinese Forget Me Not seeds. So I’m trying to put the aforementioned items to use and grow something.
Unfortunately, I’ve come to realize that my office at home doesn’t exactly have the most plant growing conducive lighting around. Nerd-Man to the rescue! I’ll just make a plant light out of some LEDs!
Anyway, 30 seconds of internet research told me that plants don’t really need green light (since they’re green they reflect it anyway), makes sense. Also it told me that plants need more red light than blue light. OK, sure, I’ll go with that. Because the internet knows its stuff.
Anyway, the plants have been under the new light for about two days now. Seems like it’s doing something. They’re growing straight up towards the light rather than sideways towards the window, so that’s good I suppose. I guess we’ll have to see where it goes from here.
