Back in 2018, a group of friends and I with the bad habit of letting hobbies grow beyond any reasonable measure, founded an internet exchange in the datacenter where we all had racks of gear.
Originally we had just run ethernet cables in a full mesh to eachother’s racks, but as the group grew, the mesh was growing exponentially. Ultimately FCIX was founded and started life as a VLAN on Kenneth’s switch.
The IX since then has grown beyond any sense of reasonableness or sanity, with actual hardware sponsors, and bigger, more well-known networks joining our little project.
Every so often we like to make some FCIX themed swag. Stickers, shirts, the usual. This year we decided to get some coins custom pressed.
If you’re a network and have a presence at Hurricane Electric’s FMT2 datacenter, pick up a FCIX coin from the front desk, and join the cabal!
